VAHHA Web-based In-service Education

Below is a list of the various courses available. Some are password protected     and open to VAHHA members only and some are not password protected and are open to the general public.  If you need a password, please check with your clinical director or call VAHHA at 802-229-0579. Most of the courses include a test. You  will receive your test score immediately. If you work for a VAHHA member agency, your HR director and  clinical director will be sent your test results the next day after you complete the test. Abuse and Neglect - Recognizing and Report Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation

This single-module course is based on the document "Raising Awareness" which was prepared by the Vermont Protective Services Division of the Department of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent Living. It is a guide to reporting cases of abuse, neglect and exploitation of vulnerable adults.

Target Audience - All home care staff. Course is not password protected.

Alzheimer's Disease

This single-module course provides useful information for professionals who are working with patients with dementia.  In addition, there is a link to the 10 Signs of Alzheimer's Disease from the Alzheimer's Association.

Diabetes Management

This five-module course provides detailed instruction on the management of diabetes. This course was written by the Vermont Department of Health.

Target Audience - All health professionals. Course is not password protected.

HIPAA - (Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act)

This is a guide to the federal rules on guaranteeing privacy for your patients. The information included for this course comes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. All health care professionals must follow these rules.

Maternal Child Health Competency Testing

These modules are a series of tests that test your competency in providing care to mothers and their young children. (Currently posted is Breastfeeding competency.  Further tests to follow.)

Medicare Rules

This two-part course explains the Medicare rules for home health.

Target Audience - Registered Nurses, Therapists. This course is password protected.

Program for Personal Care Attendants

This multi-module course provides instructions for Home Health Aides. The course is based in part on the CareWell curriculum that was developed by the VNA of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties. The various modules include instruction on bed bath techniques, professional behavior, proper communication techniques, confidentiality, risk management, personal safety, and infection control.

Target Audience: Personal Care Attendants, Home Health Aides. This course is password protected.

Safety Series (Also included in the PCA in-service program)

This course includes instruction on security and infection control. (These modules also are included in the Personal Care Attendant program.)

Traumatic Brain Injury Instruction

This five-module course provides detailed instructions on how to treat a patient who has suffered from a traumatic brain injury. The course was written by the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living.

Target Audience:  All caregivers. This course is not password protected.
